Facebook Soon Launching “Dislike” Button, Could Just Be Emoji

According to a CNBC report, Zuckerberg said “People have asked about the ‘dislike’ button for many years, and probably hundreds of people have asked about this, and today is a special day because today is the day that I actually get to say we are working on it, and are very close to shipping a test of it“.
Beside this, he also mentioned something about Dislike buttons functionality. Zuckerberg added that Facebook ignored this feature for so long because they don’t want it to be encouraged as Reddit’s system which is downvoting and upvoting.
“That isn’t what we’re here to build in the world,” Zuckerberg said.
He said they don’t want people to down vote anyone’s post or emotions, but the main reason behind this Dislike buttons it to support when someone is sharing something sad like refugee crisis, death of a family member and more. This complication regarding the feelings or emotions towards Dislike anything which matters to anyone is the reason it was turned down the demand for the dislike buttons for years.
“What they really want is the ability to express empathy. Not every moment is a good moment,” Zuckerberg said.
The name for the “Dislike” buttons is still not decided, but it will be something unique name or it could be a sad Emoji.
